91 250: good price?
91 250: good price?
Whats up guys.Im looking at a 91 250 4x4 standard cab short bed with about 172,000 miles on it. The guy who is selling it always followed the maintinence schedule and has all oil changes and other service cataloged. Hes asking $5000 for it right now but im not sure if this is a fair price or not as im not very familiar with these early year trucks. He did tell me that it needs tie rod ends as well as a possible U-joint, but thats about it.the bottom of the drivers fender is rusted but not through. it used to be a snow plow/hauler truck so it has been used. New brake lines all the way, and "tweaked" the fuel pressure
so do you guys think im geting a deal with this truck or no?

No, I don't.
If it needs one front end component, it probably need all of them. He is probably saying ujoint because he really doesn't know what is wrong with it. I paid 6K for my 2wd D350 extended cab dually that had had the front end stuff replaced and the truck only had 123K on it.
And NO RUST perfect interior and great paint.
3K sounds better to me than 5K.

well fellas i was mistaken. it IS a longbed and the guy sent me some pictures today. it seems to have the typical rust id expect from a plow truck this old, but i still dont think, along with the trucks other faults, itd be worth $5000.
he said hed let me give him $3000 down then make up a contract and id pay the rest of it off monthly while he heeps the title.
But im still not convinced I want to buy it, im hoping i can find a better condition truck in my area for that price.

is it intercooled, and what tranny? Gotta remember these things are only going up in price. Front end rebuilds are common. Is the plow included? Sure 5K is a good price. At least thats the common price range anyway. 4-4500 would be an ok deal without looking at it. Id say offer 4300, settle at 4500 maybe a lil more, fix the steering, tweek it for real Cummins power and love it till she dies (or u do) lol
Its non-intercooled and no roof rust. just the bed above the wheel well and on the driver side front fender. Im new to dodges as far as the mechanicals go so all i know as of know is its a 5-speed tranny. And it will come with the plow and a bed cap(the cap isnt made for the truck, he just uses it in the winter).
Honestly i wanted a cummins truck so i could have a reliable all year vehicle, and im always astonished by how much power you could get from an engine that red lines at 4000, but im still having mixed fellings about this truck.
