300+ Rwhp

I have a bet going with a buddy of mine that has a 24valve. He swears that 300 rear wheel horse is impossible to achieve on a 1st gen. without swapping out the injector pump with one for a 2nd gen. So I have until the end of summer to achieve this magical, and to him, impossible 300 number, If I can do it then he will pay for the Dyno, and lay out $100 to me. If I don't get it, then I am only out the Dyno cost.
I know, and i'm sure all of you know, that this number can be easily acheived.
Here is what I plan on doing so far, will it be enough, or will I need more of something:
-Either a 16cm of 14cm waste gate housing, or an HX35-16 from a second Gen.
-4" exhaust, turbo back
-PODs
-Pump cranked
-3200 RPM spring
-timing advanced 1/8
-grind down AFC

In theory/on paper, how much power should that give me?

Its an auto, and it will get beefed too.
Where can I get the fuel pin? You don't just modify the stock one?

Also, any idea what all this will do to my milage?

i got mine from PDR, you can turn yours to teh deep setting. custom cut(hack) one yourself or have them do it.

your truck will be mroe fun to drive so you will want to smash teh go pedal more so the mpg will probably go down, lol. jiMMy

PS: mine gets 15-16 on teh hyway 12-13 ish towing

Your friend will be slapping his wallet before you know it considering a 1st gen recently made a little over 620hp on diesel only. 300 is a farily common number now and it doesnt take a whole lot to get there. I'd say with your list of mods you'll be in good shape.

I'd suggest gauges first if you don't already have them, boost and pyro, maybe a tach.

Definately at least a hx35 with the rest of your list.

Yes just cut down your fuel pin, save the ~$200.

With all that, I'd say real close to 300 at the rear if not a little more.

End of this month, June 25,26 is the formerly known as Thunder in Muncie diesel event, now called DHRA Diesel Nationals at IRP, west side of Indy. You should dyno there. Cost is $75. I'll be there spinning the rollers.

Your recipe plus a hybrid turbo gave me 302 HP on straight diesel. If you could get him to bet you $2,000 you could make money on the deal.

A $100. It kind of makes me want to take off the stuff I have so you can slap it on and get the money . Get him to up the $$$ though. He doesn't go on this site too much.

add a bhaf and clean up the air intake to the turbo, port match ex manifold and make sure your intercoolers not leakin and clean, add synthetic oils to the engine and trans its all worth a few extra ponies, might as well get as much HP as you can

My truck made 321hp/841lb at the rear wheels at 46psi boost on a modified HX35 with 12cm housing. POD Injectors, 4" Exhaust, and turned some screws on the pump, thats all. This was on a Dynojet 248C thats used for R&D for my friends race car fab shop.

This is WITHOUT an Old Smokey Fuel Pin. The borrowed (NeedMoPower's) fuel pin added 20.3hp at the rear wheels when the truck was stock and without retuning. I'd imagine it'd make another 20hp now that it's bombed.

With the stock H1C, pump turned up and 4" exhaust the truck made 218hp, and 238hp with the Fuel Pin. The custom-built HX35/12cm turbo and POD injectors made the extra power.

BTW this is WITHOUT a 3200 RPM Governor Spring...it's still in the glovebox

WOW, now thats some power. I want to put down numbers like that. Can i just go with 16cm exhaust housing and Stage III compressor to make simular power? Of course injectors and intercooler
