24v turbocharger
24v turbocharger
Hi, what turbo was used on the early 24 valves? Will they hook up to and work on our trucks or do they talk to the pcm in some fashion? A guy I know is selling one for $300 because he upgraded and I was wondering if it would be good to pick up for faster spooling mostly.
I don't plan to run a whole lot of boost, well, not much more than stock anyways; I'm mostly interested in faster spooling time at lower RPM. Would the 24v turbo be a good choice for that kind of setup?

98 24v had 7 blade hx 35 turbos. ive ran one of these alot and love them for fuel economy and spool-up. the 99 -02 autos had the hy-35 and standards had the hx. the hx is better but the hy is also a good upgrade. very easy to swap on a 1st gen.
depending on the milage and shaft play on the turbo, 300 is a little high. I'd offer him 2 and go to 225, but wouldn't go much past that, those turbos are plentiful. It's a great upgrade for a stock to mild first gen, or at least it was on mine.
