Must be some kind of record... (g360 r&r)
Well, a few months ago I bought a rebuild g360, sb clutch, flywheel, driveahaft, and rebuilt my np205... Oh and new hydraulics. Anyway, it wasn't the upgrade I expected. Shifter was sloppy... So sloppy it was almost hard to get into gear... I had to play with it... Not cool for so muh work.
Well, come to find one of the alignment bolts was stripped, or rather the top plate had a stripped out hole.
The builder sent me a new top plate, and in 45 minutes I had the tranny out and sitting in my garage.
I remember the first time I did the job it took me a weekend to pull the thing.
I ended up taking the flywheel off and checking everything as I put it back together, and about 5 hours later, she road tested, and the top plate made more of a driveability difference than everything else I did combined. Shifts like a new truck, now!
I think that's the 5th time. They say fifth times a charm... Or something like that. ;-)

Experience is a wonderful thing, ain't it?
I've repeated the trans job on my Plymouth so many times it's like routine now. Manual-to-auto, new converter, shift kit, Then a year later rebuilt the A833 and back to manual. The thought of pulling it again someday after the next time I grenade it doesn't even faze me anymore. It's like a 3-hour job now all the way out and back in. Piece 'o cake.

Same with my front springs.
First time... 3 hours to pull them out. 3rd time, I knew each bolt size, wrench size, and torque specs of 80 for shackles, 95 for u-bolts, and 100 for the front 5/8 eyelet. Took less than 35 minutes to yank them out including jacking up the truck and setting the 4 stands, pulling the bolts for the swaybar, shocks, brake hose hanger.
Took about an hour and 15 to put it back in, as I took forever to torque them, as i lowered the truck back down on it's axle to get the weight were the bushings were set in place prior to torquing the bolts.
Today I had the tires off, re-torqued everything in about 15 minutes... after putting about 100miles on the truck
Do anything enough times and you will get really efficient at it...... except getting married. You'll always be wrong no matter how many times you do it.

I put TEN, yes 10, Big Block trannies into another carhauler I had back when.
After about 3 I could do them out and back in in under 3 hours.
Turns out the block had a bad dowel alignment problem, plus a couple trannies weren't that great in the 1st place.
Mark.
