Got a new grille and had a guy on FaceBook (Karriker Kustoms) make me some grille inserts. I plastidipped the chrome to see if i liked it being black, since I like it im gonna have it painted when the plastidip starts to peel.

So i believe my voltage regulator went out... *me and electricity dont get along*.

My dash is reading like 16 volts and when i accelerate it goes close to 17 volts. I have heard that these are a common issue. Do I have to just buy them and replace them as I go or is it usually another
issue that can be fixed and not have to worry about replacing them all the time.

Everything else on the truck works fine electrically.

Check out the thread from yesterday for charging problems for a '91.

So you think rewiring from the battery to the VR will resolve my issue and get a new VR & Plug in the process?

If i need a new VR should i get the HD from Alternatorparts.com? They sell a whole rewiring kit for like $65

If I had to buy a new VR, rather than use one of the dozen used ones I have on the shop shelf, I would definitely buy a MOPAR VR.

Awesome thanks Oliver! luckily my dad is good with wiring so he will be able to help me. Ill test the VR I have on the truck and give it a go.

I went through this whole issue with my truck. I replaced the VR for the pulsing issue. Then I had the VR go completely out. Then I added the relay to get battery straight to the VR "sense" pin. I had one VR give me 19 volts and burned up my battery. I finally got a genuine Mopar VR instead of the O'Reilly and AutoZone knock offs. and now the charging voltage sits at 14.7 volts according to the cheap digital voltmeter I installed. I haven't had any trouble since.

Make sure the VR has a GOOD GROUND also.

Thanks Oliver! A new MOPAR VR was just the ticket. It was a crappy made in China VR the previous owner threw on the truck. If the issue persists I may do the one wire alternator.

Alright gents, my water in fuel light and wait to start light will start blinking rapidly after I’ve been driving for awhile and I will loose overdrive. If I keep driving it the lights stop blinking and I gain OD back. Not sure what is going on. I have read a few posts but I don’t have Grid Heaters and it’s not running funny except for loosing OD.
