1975 w200 crew 440 to ctd transplant
Ive been reading this site for a few weeks but never posted. I guess that makes me a newbie. Great now I'm named after my daughter's cat.
Today is an exciting day because after months of looking, I got home with my doner truck. Ten years ago, when gas was a buck-something and was made out of gasoline, I built up my 1975 crewcab with a 440, nice interior, 5" lift, 35 inch tires, AC, etc.
Now the paint is faded, come of the rust is coming back (you cant throw a cat through the floor and the bottoms of the doors aren't flappin' in the breeze again, but there are blisters and other yuck.) I painted it charger yellow and graced its hiney with a "Super-bee" stripe and NOS Super-bee decal. The bee reflect in headlights, how cool is that?
Well, at $.50 a mile, it has been sitting for three years needing a tranny rebuild, radiator, master cylinder, new paint, and some of that magic dust that makes the cancer go away. It is time for a transplant. Actually, I will pretty much replace averything but the frame and sheet metal. I am sure I will post questions as they come up, and I plan to picture document the whole thing.
Sorry for the long post. Trooper.

6 mpg laoded in the cascades and empty on my 10 mile commute through the hills and corners about 11 on the highway. If I wore earplugs the commute mileage would go up, but it sounds soooo good...
I hear ya on the mileage, when I was in Wyoming I picked up a 75 F-100 with a 390 for $250, even with the four speed and the rust weight reduction, I managed to get about 6-7 out of it, and that was grannying it!
I average 17 with my 92 Diesel, I can squeeze 22 out of it if I baby it and do 55...
