$10 fuel shutoff solenoid

So has anyone ordered their fss solenoid from here? Will this work? Paid over $90 for mine, but it's still sitting at Napa, so I can still return it. What to do?

Got it from here:http://www.dieselbombers.com/1st-gen...-silenoid.html

Thanks!

This seems to be the way to go, according to several posts that I've seen.

I haven't had to replace mine ...YET! Mine did mess up and it wouldn't start, so i pulled the little rubber tip out and spring...it fired right up, but of course wouldn't stop with the key. Most of the problems that I have read is if it goes bad then it won't start or just dies while driving. Mine was wiring problem.

Schamran, buy that one!! they work great.

Take the $90 one back.

This topic comes up once-twice a month. Don't buy the shutdown solenoids from Napa or anything, they're all the same and the $10 one from VWparts.com works beyond good

Yes I bought mine from the dieselvw.com, and the thing works perfectly. My dealer wanted about 250.00

It didn't start. It was in about the best spot ever though. It gave up the ghost in my garage after I drove it 200 miles home. There is a bracket that sticks up right next to the solenoid, and it was in my way to get the solenoid out. (couldn't get a wrench in there) I took the throttle linkeage off so that it was out of the way, and I cut it off with my 4" angle grinder so that I could get a wrench on it. A crow foot would probably work better, but I don't have one. Be careful if you ever do this, cuz your working awful close to fuel lines. Infact I wouldn't even recommend it.

This was the first thing I had to buy for my truck a few years ago when I got the truck. The local dealership price drove me to search the net and this guy is where I bought them from. One for a replacement and one for a spare in the glovebox...

You know that bracket comes off with like 3 allen head screws right? No need to cut it and risk damage to your lines. I think it's got something to do with adjusting timing (like a special tool hooks onto it to lever the pump but I could be wrong).

Try changing the fuel solenoid on the side of the road with that bracket in original condition. If you ever have to do that you will wish you modified the **** thing. I do suggest you remove it to cut it down a bit.
