Work on a P-pump?
Work on a P-pump?
I have a friend who has a motor home in the shop with a leaking pump. Shop says it has a bad seal and bushing where the throttle shaft goes into it. My questions are: 1. Is that a job that the average mechanic should undertake? or 2. Should he spend the $4000+ that he does'nt have and let the shop do it?
The whole motorhome only has less than 80K miles.
Thanks for any input.

$4000???
He can buy a rebuilt pump here for $1200 http://www.usdieselparts.com/index.c...-dodge-59l.cfm
Most injection pump work requires a $10,000 test stand to calibrate it.
Not something the average Joe has in his toolbox.
