Which wire is it?
Which wire is it?
Well fellers, went to finish some wireing on the truck last night but I kinda ran into an problem on my fuel shut off. Which wire is the power wire for it? I was thinking the white wire was but I wasent for sure. ???
Re:Which wire is it?
You have two power wires to the fuel solenoid. Both come from the relays, and one is triggered by the starter activation and actuates a more powerful coil in the fuel solenoid. It actually lifts the arm. The other is the wire that is connected to the ignition side of the relays, and it just holds the solenoid after it is actuated.

Depending on the year, both wires may be white on the solenoid. So, if you run into that situation, put 12 volts on one side and then the other to see which one lifts the solenoid and fuel shut off arm. That is the starter activated side, and the other is the ignition switch wire.

If like a lot of guys that do this conversion, and you did not get the relays, no big deal. You can make them from inexpensive 12 volt relays available from an autoparts store.

Re:Which wire is it?
Well fellers today aint my day, I tried hooking it up the way I was thinking, white wire=power wire. Well the only way it would work was when you pull it up a little then it would hold on its own, but thats the only way it would work. What am I doing wrong?
