Is it a 1500 or a 2500 Gasser?

1500 i know they are not the strongest axles but i really dont haul much. i drive 20 miles to work. the hardest work my truck has ever done is hualed a forklift but that wont happen again. thanks

Driveline will need addressed as the new little axle has a different size yoke on it. Maybe you can put the rear section of the half ton shaft on the front half of the 3/4 tonner. If both trucks are the same wheel base, this should work.
You'll have 5 lug wheels. I assume you're swapping the front, too. We don't know if it's 4x4 or 4x2. It would look sill if you didn't swap the front, unless you lost the dually spacers.
Other than that, I'm sure it can be done, but why? You will more than likely have axle issues at some point. Maybe not from hauling weight, but from the power you'll be putting to it. Is your motor stock? Do you plan to keep the truck forever? I ask because no one that I can think of would even consider buying a setup like that. I'm sure most of the rest of you agree.
If you got such a smokin' deal on this 1500 doner, why don't you sell it and get the correct parts? You should be able to recover your cost and maybe come out a little ahead. Pick up a gasser 2500 for cheap, and use the right parts!!!
Obviously, these are just my opinions, and you can do whatever you'd like. I was just making sure your eyes were all the way open on this.

they are both four wheel drive. as for selling it i dont plan on ever selling but i am going to keep the one ton axle set.the 1500 is rust free so after i swap some other parts out i will part it out. for what i paid for the 1500 i can only buy a front or rear 2500 axle. my ctd is basicly stock other than whats in my sig.

Too bad you're not closer. I'd trade you my 3.55 axles for your 4.10's in a heartbeat. I had 4.10's in my first CTD and like them better than the 3.55's I have in this one.

You can do whatever you want, it just depends how much you want it.
Keep in mind that they DO make u joints to "adapt" different rear ends to different driveshafts. Like my 14 bolt corporate axle in my 95 Dodge truck. :-)

I knew about the bastardized U-joints, I just figured that the shaft splines might line up and he could use the rear section from the baby truck. It might be a bit longer than the big one because of the difference in pinion length.

The rear dually axle is only about 2 inches wider than a srw dana 80. We converted one to srw and you can only tell that it was a dually if you look really close and know that it is supposed to be wider. I wouldn't think 1/2 ton axles in a heavy truck would be a good idea, but that is just speculation. I just think it would cause more problems than it would be worth.
