Will 12 Valve Burn Heating Oil ?

Just curious if a 12 valve will burn heating oil and if heating oil is the same as off road diesel ? This is for off road use only

No problem at all, your 12 will love it.
Might want to consider running it though a filter before you put it in your truck.

It cost less because it is non taxed. Don't get busted with it on the road though.

Old heating oil does not have the dye in it but it is high sulfur fuel and may harm the seals in the pump.

Nope, and your truck will love the high sulfur stuff........it is only a kiss of death in the 07.5 and newer trucks.

You have it totally backwards, it was the low sulfur fuel that harmed seals but that was corrected in 1993

Then it isn't my imagination that my truck seams to run quieter with red dyed diesel. I know, its illegal. But I got three 55 gallon drums full of it from work for free when one of our 1600cfm air compressors got dusted and sent to salvage. In these times I'll take my chances.

Agreed! Run the stuff, I have never been through a check and I have never met anybody who was checked. I would run it if the fuel station would look the other way when I filled up my truck!

Actually the problem is switching back and forth between high and low sulfur fuel that harms the seals. I know this first hand because I was reclaiming old fuel oil for a while and running it. The black o rings break down when switching from high to low or low to high. The new rebuild kits still have some black orings in them. Green is good.

There is no difference between red and green diesel. It is just dye added to red. It all comes through the same pipe. They add the additives at the terminal when filling the tankers.

BTW if you fill with red at the pump some stations will not let you pay and call the law. I have seen it happen many times.

Your 12 valve will run on a wide variety of liquids including ATF, gear oil, WMO, some power steering fluids though with some you will need to either blend or even reduce to below 50%.

Depends on how old the fuel is. There is very little high sulfur or even low sulfur fuel on the market any more, even the off road stuff is usually ultra low sulfur (ULSD) with dye.
On Jan 1, 2011 the only diesel fuel legally sold in the US will be ULSD, this includes home heating oil.
