Whats a Valet Switch?
I was reading this post over the TDR, and was wondering what a valet switch actually does....

Re:Whats a Valet Switch?
In a sense it detunes the fuel side by restricting the boost in the AFC line between the intake manifold and the AFC unit on your injector pump. They use it on the bigger HP engines for a more streetable condition.

This again is a product for Heavily Modified trucks to make it so you can drive down the street without leaving rubber and pavement on your mudflaps..

Re:Whats a Valet Switch?
The valet switch is simply a valve that stops the manifold pressure from reaching the AFC. Without boost from the intake manifold, the AFC will not allow the governor lever to follow the fuel plate profile or reach full fueling without a fuel plate.
It will not add HP, it will only restrict it. It lets guys with heavily fueled truck drive without puffing large clouds of smoke or it allows you to let someone else drive your truck without having to worry about it.

Re:Whats a Valet Switch?
The last post hit it on the head. The purpose is to keep the 12 year old parking attendents at the country club from nailing the throttle and doing burnouts with your truck. Hence the name "Valet Switch."
When the air pressure is shut down from the manifold to the AFC the truck wil not get above a fast idle, but may still get to 35 MPH in a pinch, and that is good enough for parking.
If you do not use valet parking, do not waste your time with installing the air shutoff valve.

Is it possible to use a valet switch on the highway? Specifically, if you had a 500 hp truck and wanted to limit hp to run icy highways in the winter, would it work??
Re:Whats a Valet Switch?
Man I wish it was that much difference, mine is 500 ish in valet, you can limit it more my sliding the AFC back but that is no fun, I set valet for power/driveablity/and EGT's.
