whats proper way to blead fuel system
whats proper way to blead fuel system
so whats the best way to blead fuel system i read about blowing air in fuel tank even done taht a few times so what about the pump? is there ascrew there i need to loosen like on tractors or can i get all of it out of fuel filter housing?/ thanks
Yes. There is a bleeder on the top of the banjo bolt coming out of the fuel filter to the injector pump. With that open you should be able to at least get the system from the filter to the tank primed. AFter that I usually cycle the lift pump by hand until I hear the overflow valve stop chattering on the injector pump.
I am new to Diesels, as this is my first one, so if I'm wrong let me know...This works for me, and I have had to do it a lot recently fighting the fuel heater leak... finally found this sight that recommended replacement of the O-ring I didn't know existed and got it fixed in a few minutes. My truck runs great now that the pressure holds and starts on the second turn now
What Ive seen on my 98 24V is there are 2 bleed screws on top of the filter canister:
I bleed the right then the left (looking at from the front of the truck)because the left is higher than the right by a little bit.
I prime the system, bleed, and repeat about 3 times, until I don't get bubbles from the screws. Then I tighten them up good and start the truck. It will take about 10 rotations to start it and then I let it run for a few minutes...
now that the issue is fixed it starts perfectly on demand and I can stop having to bleed it every time to get it started...
