What to do?

I have a 95 dodge with 164K on it original automatic. Lately it has been acting up. When I go to crank it up in the morning or when it sits for a couple hours and I go to put it in gear and start to take off it is real sluggish like I can almost rev it up in gear. This only last for 20 seconds like it has to build up pressure to move. I sit there and let it idel for a few minutes it doesn't matter. Latley when im driving and it shifts gears there isn't much drop in rpm. Over the weekend drove to eat about 5 miles away and it was in OD and kept trying to sfit down into third. It also revs to 2200 rpm befor it will go into od. However on the way back it was fine just like it has to get warmed up. The fluid level was a quart low but I had but a 1/2 quart in about 500 miles ago. I think the the tc is shot but I don't want to waste the money if it is the tps or something like that. Do you think it would be a waste of money to change to fluid get the bands tighted try adjusting tps. It has 164K miles on the trans not to bad I don't guess. Does it sound like it is on its last leg or just something out of adjustment.

When I use to sell auto parts that filter kit (wix 58707) sold for like $8.00, too cheap not to change. Never have I changed a tranny filter and fluid and had bad results, only good. If you just got it 15k ago DEFINATELY change the fluid and filter! Who knows how long it's been since it's been changed.

TPS could be out of adjustment and also may want to adjust the TV cable, you can firm up the shift a little by doing this.
