What controls the starter
Hey guys , over a week ago i replace the starter thinking that was the problem with my truck .
It's been fine since then , but I just came out of a store and went to start the truck and all I had was the click from the fuel soleniod .
I as able to jump the starter from the underside , truck cranked right over and started using the key ...not sure whats up .
Is there a relay that sends power to the starter ?
Thanks guys
greg

Yes there is a starter relay in the PDC under the hood. The ignition switch powers the relay's winding on crank, through the yellow wire. I believe the relay's winding is grounded by the neutral safety switch any time the trans is in park or neutral.
Have a look at the driver side positive battery cable. There is a lighter gauge wire running down to the starter alongside the heavy cable. At the top end, there is a 2-pin connector on that lighter gauge wire. Make sure the connection there is good, that wire powers the solenoid on the starter.
