weight of 12valve engine

Anyone know what a cummins weighs? I maybe changing one out here in a few weeks. Has any of yall used a regular cherry picker engine hoist or is it to weak? May have to rent one heavier duty.

They are a little over a 1000lbs. My book says 1022 dry for the 24 valve.

Pulled my 95 12v out with just a plane old 2ton picker with no problems.

Remove the u-frame carrying the radiator\charge-air cooler\ac condenser, so engine only needs be raised just above bumper heighth, and a standard 2klb engine puller will do it.

It is the length of the engine vs required lift vs load arm length that is of concern, since most of the pullers are min 2k load capable.

i used a standard picker. the biggest problem i had was the engine is super long and hard to fit in there properly. top valve cover studs kept getting caught in the cowl insulation.
