Turbo bark on shift into OD
I have been noticing that when I shift into OD at light to medium throttle, I get a VERY noticeable bark.
What would be the likely causes? Shifting too hard (trans needs to be adjusted)? Exhaust leak at the manifold to head joint (I have a small one developing)? Doen't seem to be an issue at higher throttle positions, or if I wait til I reach about 50mph, let the boost settle and then allow it to shift. |
If my converter locks up under a lot of boost, mine will bark pretty good.
I just adjusted my style a little. Either roll into it easy untill it locks and then get back in it, or keep it to the floor untill I get to speed and then let up. |
When I got my new tranny, I noticed it when I was towing. Just had to change my driving habits. It's normal with a tight tranny.

Thats what I figured, but it is rather inconvenient when climbing a hill onto the highway while fully loaded.

if you keep it the pedal in the same spot then roll out of it. you wont have a problem. if you let off right when the converter locks up you get a bark.

Thats wierd. I wonder why mine doesnt do that? how much boost are you hitting when you get there?

Normal acceleration for me with a full load (17k) at half throttle will hit OD with about 25-30psi.
I really do wonder if my exhaust leak is part of the problem. That would make it easier to drop pressure on the exhaust side and slow the turbo down. I will post back here in a few weeks if I get the time to fix it. |
