Trying to help a Fummins buddy, engine issues

Hello!
Have a friend that spent a crap ton of money building a Cummins for his Ferd, and he is having severe coal rolling issues, it never cleans up even when he backs the star wheel off.
He is also having exhaust temp issues. I told him it just sounds like he doesn't have enough air for the amount of fuel, but he has a nice turbo.
Below is his parts list, if you have any ideas please let me know!
Thanks, Mark

1998 12v with the 215 pump.

1. Crank turned and polished

2. Bored .30 over

3. Stage 1 cam

4. New stock head with heavy valve springs

5. 150hp injectors

6. 4K governor spring

7. .025 delivery valves

8. Fleece cheetah 63mm turbo

9. AFC live

10. Timing set at 18 degrees

11. Fass fuel from a ford 6.0 (65 psi) with 1/2” fuel line from fass pump to p-pump

12. DPS exhaust manifold

13. 5” exhaust with 4” down pipe

14. I can’t remember what harmonic balancer it has, but it’s after market and pricey.

I am not sure if this is some sort of joke, or not. That list of parts would make me think it has way more fuel that air and would be a hot, smokey mess to drive, let alone tow with.

The 215HP motors come with a special 215HP only injector, which is a decent size. I am sure the 150HP over injectors are adding more fuel than he can use and making the smoke and ETG issues.

Other key info for us to have is what sort of AFC tuning does he have?
I am not familiar with AFC Live.
A stiffer AFC spring can help a lot with tuning.

What sort of fuel plate is he using, or did he pull it so he could roll coal all the time?
A more conservative fuel plate and/or moving it back to the stock location would help.

Thanks for the reply, and it is no joke.
I will advise him to stick the factory injectors in and see if that makes things much better.
The stiffer AFC spring is good advice also.
I will ask about the plate. I did ask him if he tried pulling the plate back down, he said he had.
Thnks again, will report back.

AFC live is a way to adjust the AFC while driving.

I concur with Oliver that this is a way overfueled mess.
So, if he's got boost and still smokes (and has EGT troubles) he simply overfuels.
If smoke just happens at low boost- AFC not tuned properly.

Maybe suggest twins to get the air he already has the fuel for... then a trans and drivetrain that will stand the power..

His wife will kill him if he spends any more on it. I advised the easiest thing to do at this point would be to put the stock delivery valves back in the pump. He no longer has the original injectors.
He is going to swap delivery valves this weekend.
I appreciate all the input!
