Question TPS and 47RH

OK, I put in my 3k GSK and a 1K ohm resistor for my tranny temp sensor and opened up, cleaned, lubed, sealed and re-installed my TPS.

Now the tranny shifts ALMOST perfect!! The TPS cleaning seemed to make the biggest difference. My only remaining problem is a shudder when taking off from a dead stop. It seems to happen at all throttle settings and doesn't last too long - it's just kind of annoying. The tranny fluid is new and the tranny was rebuilt (stock) about a year before I bought the truck so two years ago. Now everything works good, shifting, lockup, unlock...

My question is - I read a bunch of posts that say that if the line pressure is too low you can get the shuddering and that the TPS needs to have a high enough voltage to increase the line pressure. So I was playing with voltage and it only seems to effect the 3rd to OD shift and the TC lock/unlock, not the shudder. Does the TPS actually control the line pressure on a 47RH ? or only on the 47RE ?

OR can I only adjust the line pressure on the 47RH by dropping the pan and adjusting the screws inside the tranny? The H means hydraulic so I think it's controlled with hydraulics and not electronics like the 47RE.

Coud there be something other than line pressure causing the shudder?

Thanks!!

The TPS does not control line pressure. Thats an internal function of the valve body Do a search on take off shudder, a lot of people, including me, have had to do a lot of adjustment on drive line alignment and angles to get rid of it. You will have a lot to read!! I have a 95 also and TPS controls OD and lock up only.

The shudder is typical on a lot of these trucks with stock converters and trannies. Some of the ways people have tried to fix other than getting new converters and valve bodies, has been using dexron fluid which has less lubricity, and going to ATF4 which has more and also amsoil. These methods have worked for some and not for others its a crap shoot.

If you used Dexron try adding a bottle of Lube-Gard at a time.
My bet is it will clear it up.

I'm not sure what kind of fluid is in there but it looks and smells like new. I'll try the lube-guard first and if that doesn't help I'll change the fluid.
