Having not owned a second gen forces me to ask this. On my 1st gen I had problems with it not wanting to go into overdrive and it was at the electrical plug on the driver's side of the trans. Is this trans set up similarly? Could it just be a bad plug or connection?
Voltage at the TPS is low.
A wire short problem like this could be anywhere in the truck and cause the same low voltage problem.
I've read of one person who found his short inside of the loom running to the water in fuel sensor.
PITA to find.
Infidel, would a continuity test isolate the problem? Do you have to hand trace the wires until you find the worn out jacketing?
Thanks for all the help guys...I couldn't have done any of this without everyone's input!!

A continuity test thru the wire, end to end, wud not. A cont. Test to ground wud tell you if you had a chafed wire to ground. However it wud not tell you where the compromised insulation is at. Another way to test is to run a seperate wire in place of suspected faulty wire.
Alright, I did a continuity test, and the RF filter was grounding the TPS out, but there weren't any shorts.
One of the last items I checked was the linkage. The throttle valve cable was a little off, which lowered second and third gear shifts, and the distance from the back of the bracket to the center of the ball is about 5 1/4".

Infidel posted a FSM diagram showing the distance to be 5" +/- 1mm. How do you adjust the throttle lever?
