Throttle Springs

Just wanted to thank whoever it was to tell me the trick about adding the throttle springs and not worrying about the Dodge kit. My truck would want to buck in 4th loaded or with a trailer. Looked and saw I had only one of the throttle springs, bought a set of generic springs for a few bucks and bam, pulled a trailer with 5k worth of hay on it, no bucks. Ran like a top, not holding 3rd to 3k rpms, or jumping to 5th to stop the jerking.

One quick question, there is another spring that needs replacing at the front end of the throttle assembly, right near where the Cruise ties in. For the life of me, I cannot find where the other end of that spring is supposed to go. I will try to get a pic tomorrow. But the truck pulled like a dream today. Awesome.

I mean, I don't post a lot here, I just learn from you guys. I guess the next move is to put some heavy valve springs in. Was curious one day last week, and let her free rev...past 3600 and was still climbing.

Yep, 4k. Had the pump worked over and Dv's, and the gov kit at the same time. Previous owner had .020 head gasket done(I know, I know, only way to know is to see with my own eyes.) So maybe it is best to do a head work over at the same time as some valve springs and just put some O-rings in. I know O-rings are the tried and true solution. Of course, without some twins the dream of 50-60 plus boost is on hold.

gotcha, i just didnt see them in your sig so i was wondering. I would put a big guy under your turbo and worry about the headwork later, just keep the boost under 50psi. I pegged my 60lb gauge a few times on a stock head gasket and it never blew. the ddp4's light twins real nice and you will have more power at the same boost because of the cooler charge air, just keep the rpms under 3000.

Yep, that's the one. I actually found a image like that except it was the whole left front side. And I used photoshop to blow it up, but that one is so much better. Thanks a ton.

i moved my spring from one of the lower holes to the upper one by the cruise bracket and it solved some of my problems. later it broke and my truck almost ran away after that i just installed a spring from napa that was a little stiffer and my problem has virtually dissapeared

a while ago i posted a how to fix the bucking problem thread,

Actually, there are notches in the edge of the head gasket that will tell you if it is Std, ".010" or ".020" they are in the edge on the exhaust side, 1 is std, 2 is ".010" and 3 is ".020" As far as I know, this is ONLY for gennie Cummins head gaskets. (now made in China)
