Stalling when cold

Developed another weird problem. The idle is set for 900RPM,yet when cold the truck will stall unless I keep my foot on the pedal for a few minutes. After that the idle will stay at 600RPM and slowly climb to 900RPM.This never use to happen before.Have install a new LP and OV.Any ideas?

possibly a governor spring preload adjustment issue. but check the simple first fuel, air filters and check for air leaks and if the return check valve on the return outlet of the pump is got some age to it replace that first. and double check to make sure your timing hasn't slipped retarded.

Dave, your governor springs are set too tight. Back them off 3-4 clicks. Your warm idle will drop about 150 RPM. Use the idle screw to set your warm idle at 800 RPM. Your truck will start easier and will cold idle without stalling. I think you mentioned that you did not measure your governor springs when you installed them. Make sure both spring retainers are installed with equal preload.

Thanks guys...You have been a big help.I measured the spring height when I installed the 3K springs and also when I installed the stock ones for testing.I was just checking in case the other owner was in there also and took the springs out without measurment. The springs measure at 3.45MM amd 3.75MM.It looks like it should match, not one side measurin different. Please confirm again what measurement I should set them at?Tate and myself are going to check the timing when I get back.I'm having this strange feeling my timing has slipped resulting from that hard up hill pull..( i will be putting the 3k,back into the truck also)
