Spec sheets?

I'm in the process of doing a complete overhaul on my 12 valve. I have searched and searched but I can't find a full motor torque spec sheet. Anyone know where one is?

Also..... Does diesel go bad? I got just under a half a tank that has been sitting for about a year. Is it bad now?

I went and bought the Haynes manual. Also if you ask for specific specs on the parts you are working on I am sure the people here will be glad to answer your questions. My uncle has mine.

Anyone? Is there any additives I can add to make sure it isn't bad?

I would check ebay for a factory service manual. I personally don't always trust the Haynes torque specs. For example, for the rear differential cover bolts it said to go to 60 lbs-ft I think. My best judgment told me that's just too high, so I went with 25.

If it was me, I would use fresh diesel for it's first start and tune. I see no reason to take a chance and have to start "hunting ghosts" down only to find out it was bad fuel. Besides, even with the cost of diesel, it's price is barely a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of an overhaul. I'm not really sure if diesel will "go bad" like gas can. I would be more concerned about moisture condensing in whatever you got it stored in. It always amazes me the amount of water that ends up in a sealed tank when left to sit for extended periods. I would concider using the old diesel only after your saticfied the engine is running how you want. Even then, I would probably mix it in with good fuel a little at a time with each fill-up until it's either gone or the amount left is making you uncomfortable because of the likelyhood of picking up any water at the bottom of the tank you have it now.

I'd throw some Power service fuel tank cleaner (white bottle with green accents on it) it conditions and displaces any water, 5-10 more gallons of fresh stuff in and go. The stuff is for fuel that is or has been stored, If it has been in a sealed tank, like your truck's tank, no worries on only a year.
