I have not been on this site in quite a while but I have a new truck with a new problem and am starting to get back into working on my truck again. I have 97 12 valve that smokes at idle quite a bit. I also have a 95 that I have a don a lot of mods to in the past but unfortunatley have forgotten so much in the past few years. The 97 does have bully dog injectors, a 3k gsk, turbo housing, scotty II air filter. I do not know what plate is in it but I know that it is not stock and I am sure it is set wrong. I have timed the truck recently and set to 16.5. It has a dtt tranny. It does seem to smoke more when the AC is on. Once above idle the smoke goes away and runs great. One other thing is that if you mash the throttle and let off while at idle it will stall. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really have forgoten a lot about these trucks and want to get back into them. Good to be back smokin again.

 

It's fairly common for the timing to slip on these trucks and cause the problems you describe.

 

wheres your idle at? mine idles real low and when its cold if i rev it, it will die and its always hazed at idle... checked my timing too still in spec
