six speed conversion
six speed conversion
What is a six speed and transfer case worth out of a 04 4x4 with a little over 100k miles on it. I have thought about buying it to install in my 95 4x4that has a automatic. I dont care for automatics. thanks
NV5600s are getting to be a rare breed and parts for them are scarce. At 100k it is anyones guess how much longer it will last. Not sure if the linkages from a 3rd gen will transfer to a 2nd gen either. A few years ago it was a $4000 conversion from a 4500 to a 5600 in a 2nd gen. Driveshafts have to be shortened/lengthened, new clutch, PP and flywheel maybe. How much it is worth is dependent to how bad you want to do it.
A little bit of apples to oranges but I'm in the process of converting to a G56 6 speed, and mine is 2WD. I have $2300 in the transmission and $1100 in the single mass flywheel, clutch and PP. I also have to get the transmission cross member modified as well as the driveshaft.

100k is nothing on the 5600 AS LONG as proper fluid is used and it's over filled! My dad and I each have 300+km since our conversion on the same fluid. His was done in 2000 or 01 and my conversion was done in 01 or 02 and cost around $2k.
six speed
I was trying to decide which transmission was the better deal to go with. I am probably never going to buy a new truck. I like the 12 valve engine and it has 150k miles on the truck. I don't mind spending a little money on it. I have already bought all of the parts to change out to a hydo boost brakes booster. Just have not installed yet. I plain on changing to a six speed. As time permits. I appreciate all of the advice. Thanks
I hear that, I like having no payments. I guess when my 5600 goes crappy I'll probably trailer it back to Blumenthals and either get it fixed or get what ever is available that will bolt up.
