Silencer Ring????? A what?
Im trying to figure out what the heck a silencer ring is? I have a 96 12v and its loud and whistles...... can you remove this ring thing on a hx 35? If it will make it sound like its got a little more funk in the trucnk I might be up to do it. help!!!!
It is just a ring in front of the turbo's compressor wheel to help lower the sound the turbo makes. Yes it can be removed. By pulling it off you'll get more turbo whistle and possibly a very minute power gain. The part was supposed to be designed to muffle the noise without harming performance.
Yes it can be removed
U want whistle? u have a stock box, remove these two components, there is a ring infront of the turbos wheel as BoostdCTD says, Simply take a screwdriver and loosen ur screw for the intake hose, remove that, using the same screwdriver work around the edges of the retaining ring, it should come out after working around it long enough, once that snap retaining ring is out, pull the little thing that was in there, IE the ring... Once you have that out, and the hose and top of box removed, which you should have done to get to the turbo, remove ur air filter from the intake box, and there is a little plastic piece that connects the airbox to the passenger side fender, remove that plastic deal, and reassemble everything the way that it should be, now drive, enjoy and recycle your parts
Tx
