the 91 dodges had a get rag 5sp, the 94-01's came with the nv4500, its probably not worth it. i would just do the tranny work. unless the 91 is another cummins and you want another diesel, then pick it up, but it would be a good amount of work to swap that tranny in if it would even work out, which im not positive it would, im sure someone who knows a little more will chime in.

I wouldn't waste your time with that, there is a reason why they call them a gutrag, either fix yours or put a nv4500 or the 6 speed, the best way to do it is to buy a donor if you can.

okay so the donor truck that i can get is a 90 or 91 cummins, and it looks like all the parts will fit, my auto has the same spot for the slave cylinders punch out as the older truck, so what kind of tranny is in that 91, and what is in my auto? thanks

Your 91 is a getrag 360, your auto RE47, I don;t know anybody that has put a 360 in a second gen so I think you are on your own for that one

I dont think your crankshaft in your auto will allow your input shaft of the stick trans to be accepted. I could be wrong have b4 CC

No, there aren't any differences in the rear of the engine. The adapter plate is different, and can be swapped, as can the flywheel and bell housing, of course.

The challenge will be in the non-swappable stuff, like crossmembers and driveshafts, etc. Not 100% sure about transfer cases (if equipped), but it will be do-able, one way or the other.
