The first problem was one I pushed on the go pedal it would not move and then all of a suddedn it would kick in gear and move. Found out it I needed to adjust the bands, which I did.

Second problem after adjusting the bands the tranny worked ok but would shift hard or at weird times and did not feel like it was shifting into OD as I could only do 60mph with the tack at 2500rpms. Did some more research and found out it could be sevral differnt things, TPS, TV cable, Trans temp sensor, break switch. I checked the TV cable it was fine. I replaced the break switch and the trans temp sensor and installed a POT for the TPS, readjusted the bands. Also found the trottle cable was strectched so I took care of that. The tranny works good now shifts smooth and at the right times also feels like it shifts to OD But still can only do 60mph with the rpms still 2500 and climing when I push the trottle more.

So I'm left thinking it is the OD selonoid but now I'm not sure.

Any ideas what else it may be?
Low on fluid!!

Shouldn't be low I changed the filter and fulid when I adjusted the bands. Think I will check just to make sure.

Fluid was low, topped it of and that made a differance. I think my speed problem could be the convoner ark in the AFC housing from when I changed the plate. I will check it and see if it is working correctly.

2 quarts I should have checked sooner. I changed out the #10 plate for 100. Did not make a differance in the RPMs gaining as speed increases. I can do 60mph with the tack at 2100 and then it gains as I push down on the pedal. it does feel like it is shifiting into OD. So could it be the OD or the TCC selonoid? Could the tork converter be shot?

Not sure where to go from here?

When I lost my TC lockup, after a fairly short time ( 100 miles or so ) the Trans filter would plug up with clutch debris. Very fine black stuff......... I suppose you could have lost your clutches altogether.

Why not install a switch temporarily for TC lockup and see if it is working?

BTW, TC Lockup is a dramatic drop in RPMs, OD was quite a bit less RPM drop, and happened before TC Lockup, seems kind of counterintuitive, but that's the way it is.

This is what I'm seeing when it shifts into OD the RPMS drop a little but then start climing as I gain speed. Sounds like I need to test the selonoid.

When you are going down a highway or up a grade and in OD, or if you have OD locked out and are in 3rd and you are at a steady speed and steady throttle, tap your brakes (this will unlock TC if it is locked in) and you can normally see the RPMs drop 200-300rpms

If you do end up doing the swap I can tell you what I know about it, Ever since I went from 727 to 47RH I could never get the throttle cable adjusted right so I would always drag out shifts and down shift into 2nd real easy. Not a big surprise that tranny only lasted a year and a half, still pretty good for a take out though!

Still having problems

The rpm's are still running high after shifiting into OD and increase steady with speed and still can't get above 60mph.

New problem when I take off from a dead stop shifts fine but then fells like it shifts down or locks up and I have to get completly off the throttle and then push back down and it will shift up.

So I have two things I havn't done, change the od solonoid pack or the TC.

I need some opions on what to do next. My tranny has 210,000 on it.

Should I replace the od soloniod?

New TC and od solonoid

Rebuild tranny

Tired of throwing money at it and just want it fixed.

id take it out and have a reputable trans shop go thru it replacing all electronics and any clutches that are worn out. get a billet low stall tc as well and a shift kit you wont regret it

Did you do what I suggested to check and see if the torque was infact locking up? Wait til you get in OD, or lock OD out and wait until you get into 3rd gear (on a slight incline) and as your pulling the hill with steady throttle tap the brakes and you should see the RPMs drop 200-300RPMs or so. Also whenever the torque locks up you should be able to see the RPM gauge and your MPH gauge pull at the same pace.

But nether the less, to save yourself headaches, and money in the long run I would pull the transmission and have it sent to a reputable transmission shop and have it tore apart.
Most likely your only going to need a basic over-haul kit, clutches (maybe steels depending on condition of yours), seals, sealing rings, bands, ect.
And hard parts as needed.

Also is a good thing to replace is the switch valve, which sonnax makes an upgraded one.

I did try your suggestion. The RPMS drop but clime right back up. When I'm doing 60mph I'm pulling 2500 RPMs. However today I noticed my RPMS would drop a little and stay there. As soon as funds allow I'm going to have it gone through.

I do have another question. There is a sensor? on the back of the transfer case by the drive shaft. Is it a speed sensor? does it have any affect on the tranny?

yes its your Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) and no it has no effect on you trans control. it is for cruise and speedometer input
