Rear diff anti spin gear oil additive
Rear diff anti spin gear oil additive
Recently changed out my diff fluid on my 3.54 anti spin. Discovered Dodge recommends adding their "special" additive whenever you do a gear oil change. When I went to the Steeler parts dept they wanted about $20 for a small bottle of this stuff. I just went with regular 80 wt gear oil.

Is it really necessary or is there some other product to use or is it just more BS from the dealer? ???

I use a product called "Trans X" limited slip additive.
About 4 bucks at auto zone for 10oz.

My limited slip is working great! 3rd set of tires in 56,000 miles.

--Justin
Re:Rear diff anti spin gear oil additive
Unless the gear oil you got was marked specifically for limited slip differentials, you're gonna need it. You'll feel wheel hop when going around corners and leaving it that way will eventually hose the clutch packs. I used Kendall additive in mine when I changed it out, and I think it was around 5 or 6 dollars a bottle.
Re:Rear diff anti spin gear oil additive
Most reputable parts stores carry the additive, most of the time its the Delco stuff. The principle is the same, you need that clutch lube or you won't have any limited slip and few thousand miles. Can you say $$$$$$$$$
