Question pulling dana 60 carrier

How do you get the carrier to come out? Do you have to spread the case? I have done smaller axles but not the Dana 60. I have everything apart and I am trying to get the carrier out of the housing. Any tips ? I am swapping 3.54 gears in place of 4.10`s. any help would be appreciated. John Mark Zavadil

When I pull a carrier, I hang a box end wrench on one of the ring gear bolts, and turn the pinion to rotate the wrench against the housing (rotate to force wrench to tighten bolt). This will force the carrier out until the gear teeth lose contact. Then you can slip a bar in the side gear opening and roll it out. When I replace, I get the carrier started in, then use 4 long bolts in the caps to walk the carrier in till the cap bolts reach, then use them to pull carrier in place.
