Overdrive

So with the 5 speed manual and 4.10 gears I am running about 2000 rpm at 65. I had thought about putting a 6 speed in it, but going from .77 gear to a .74 gear does not really seem worth the trouble. I found the gear vendors over drive but don't have 3 grand laying around. I could change gears but that is not very cheap either and I really like the freight train pulling power I have right now. So does any one make an overdrive for our trucks besides gear vendors?

There was another company making OD units, I'm at a loss for their name, but they quit making them a couple years ago.
Some times you can find used GV units. Call GV and ask if they have any.

I was in Laramie a couple weeks ago. Man has the place grown in the last ten years.

Fill out your signature so we know what you have, makes it easier to help you.

If you have a 2wd, it is not expensive to change your 4.10 to a 3.54. Far cheaper than going with a overdrive.

US gear make an auxillary overdrive or underdrive if you so desire.

Thanks Mcmopar I will look into it. The trucks 4wd, plus the 4.10s make it really easy to yank houses and other buildings down the road. lol

I did the same thing for my dad, he's got a 96 3500 4X4 with 65,000 miles, he was thinking of swapping to 3.54's, but we decided to do the us gear and keep the 4.10's.
