Rubber hose

Bill is there also a hose that connects the metal line behind the block. Rather hard to get to or it was for me.. I have used a little air pressure to pressure up the tank to prime a system. Use common since here. Good luck Jim

I think you're talking about the infamous return line.
I guarantee that eventually every one will fail.
Very hard to get at the end behind the block, I gave up on it several years ago and just abandon the entire stock fuel system and run hose all the way from the engine to tank. Costs more but eliminates future problems and is a lot easier.

Got it running yesterday. It was the lift pump. Now when I prime with the bleed screw on top of the fuel filter removed, I get lots of fuel spurting up.
