Is it okay to run a 14cm turbo with stock plate?

I just bought a truck with some upgrades and I am going to be driving it home about 1400 miles. There was a #6 installed that the owner took out and put the stock plate back in. He says it has some "lag" now. Will this be okay to drive or should I put the #6 back in before the drive home?

Have gauges??

It should be OK to drive home. You'll just have more pronounced turbo lag.

It wont harm anything if it were to stay on there for months and months... just laggy.

A 35 with a 14 housing, why would you have lag because of the plate? The 14 ain't that large.

not as large as the 18 or 21 housings from the 1st gens! slide that plate full forward, slide the AFC housing and turn the starwheel all the way forward... it'll help out w/ any lag.

I'm guessing the guy was used to the extra fueling from the plate, and now that the stock plate is in there, it feels laggy... it would have felt that way w/ the 12cm housing IMHO.
