Non Cummins engine kits ??s

Has anyone used one of these? I found a kit with Mahle pistons and FelPro gaskets, I have always used them on my gassers. i plan to use a Cummins head gasket anyway, just wondering about the rest. I know Mahle makes some of the pistons for Cummins, hell for the price difference I could just use the pistons, buy Cummins gaskets and still be $$$ ahead. What say you??

We use Mahle pistons all the time in Cummins builds/rebuilds at the shop. Very nice pistons. I'm especially impressed with how close their weights are to each other right out of the box. I rarely have to remove more than a few grams to get them to be within 1 gram of each other. I've never seen them come in as part of a ready made kit, but, that's not out of the norm. Very few "kits" for any engine make their way into the shop. We usually buy parts that we've had good experience with and trust. So, in the case of Cummins builds, I'll see Mahle pistons coupled with either Cummins gaskets, o-ringing heads, or Firewire. I've never even seen a Felpro head gasket for a Cummins in the shop. I have used their gaskets on other parts of the Cummins engine without problem...such as when I tabbed my KDP, I used their gasket kit for the housing. Also, we've used their complete gasket set from time to time, but never the head gasket. Good luck.

This is going to be an "Extreme" change, fresh engine, 215 HP P Pump, Big Stick cam, ported head, o ringed, HX35/40 Dodgezilla over an S475 compound turbos, FASS. After having been a 500K VE pump the change should be noticable.

What is the difference between fire and o rings??

Thanks Lee
