New and improved BHAF

Amsoil p/n EaAU4091 installed in a modified BHAF heat shield. I like this filter better because it is washable, has a mounting stud, and fits nicer than the BHAF. Plus, the whistle is now louder.

I shoved a piece of 4" exhaust tubing about 1 1/8" long inside the neck of the filter to give the clamp something solid to clamp down on. For the cradle, I took a piece of 5" tube 1 1/4" long and sliced it in half. 1/4-20 nylock on the stud, and a long hose clamp around the cradle. This thing isn't going anywhere. Much nicer than the BHAF rolling around in there and rubbing on the airbox studs.

Looks good. How much did that all set you back, if you don't mind me asking?

Filter retails for $92.xx plus shipping, which is about $7-$10. A friend and I went in on a pair, and by buying into Amsoil's Preferred Customer program, we got 2 filters shipped for $160. It's some deal that Amsoil offers where you pay $10 for a 6 month period that allows you to buy for 20-25% off. That made our filters like $69.75 each, plus 10 for the membership, and 10 for shipping. And a dollar-ish for an extra hose clamp to lengthen the one that comes with the filter to hold it down to the saddle.

Steel was some material I had laying around, as was the short pieces of tubing.

So, I have $80 into this setup. Not bad, since a BHAF is about $60.
