Low Boost problems
Low Boost problems
Ok guy's could you give me some ideas about where I might find this leak I have checked all the normal places where they usually develope and I can't here anything but power is way dowwn and egt temps are way up with very little peddle applied and the filter was cleaned????
If you have an air compressor or access to one you need to make a boost tester like the one below. Hook it up to your turbo where the hose from the airbox usually goes and pressurize it up to 30 psi. Spray down the intake system with soapy water.
Thanks Bill, after talking to a few other guy's that is exactly my plan tonight and while I'm at it I will be installing a new set of Delivery valves for even more fuel! With any luck it won't be a cracked intercooler or somthing expensive like that.
Depending on where the leak is on you intercoler you might possibly get away with plugging the leak with epoxy (jb weld etc.). On my 96 one tube is rotten for about 4" in behind the AC rad .This fix was suggested to me buy a puller /diesel performance guy who says he is running 85 lbs boost with jb weld.I used PC farenheit, sets in 1 hour cures in 4 seems to hold over 30 lbs without any trouble .
Well we did the pressure teast as Infidel suggested with a similer device and found a leak at the drivers side boot where it ties into the intercooler. I removed it cleaned it up and replaced the clamp. That fixed the leak but i still think somthing else may be going on here I still can't explain why my idle dropped by 150 rpms?? I guess it's time to start looking at my fuel system?
