Leaking Head Gasket
Cummins said i had a leak in the front right corner in the head gasket and i was wondering if it hurts the engine to have it leak and how important it is to replace. I also was wondering if there is some kind of additive or something that will seal it some to last a little longer because 1400 is a lot to spend right now. Any help would be great

I'm not a fan of the Bars Leak type additives that seal up head gaskets and coolant leaks. A buddy of mine just replaced his radiator because the guy before him added some. Once it is in there it has to go somewhere, and his just settled into the radiator and plugged it up tight. It took a few thousand miles but it finally plugged it. I would say if you are somewhat mechanically inclined you could do it yourself, but I have never personally done one before. Where in WI are you from???

Fix it!
I had the same bolt break on mine. I believe you will risk the engine if it is not properly fixed. I tried to "Get By" and kept over heating the engine. The head gasket WILL FAIL and the engine repair will be a whole lot more then $1400. BTW, I got mine done for just over $1000 including having the head milled. Shop around.
