KDP: Silicone Problem

I did the KDP with the TST products kit last winter, used there gray silicone with no gasket. Long story short, it leaked so I licked that calf over this past weekend.

Now here is the problem, with no gasket just silicone it appears it made the clearance to close and the shaft on the bottom gear was rubbing the timing case cover. Had a nice little groove in it. Was a little ticked when I had to do the job over again but now I'm glad it leaked. Anyway I reinstalled it this time with gasket and silicone and no leaks so far.

even with using rtv there should be no interference with the timing cover plenty of room, thats all we use at the shop the cummins grey silicone and never interference probs. but again the stuff that they send is junk better off using the gasket every time.

I thought the silicone would be fine too but there is diffinently a groove cut in that inter plate that is spot welded to the timing cover.
