KDP kit from TST

so yesterday i installed the KDP kit from TST. it went WAY easier than i thought it would. i only had one question and i called their customer support and had my answer in minutes. the only thing that isnt in their instructions is taking off the upper radiator hose. this was an excellent product with very good detailed instructions. i had my brother here to help. it took us 8-9 hours, thats with us taking off to the junk yard for a while, a beer run, and quite a bit of B.S.ing. sure does feel good to not have to worry about that anymore!!

Nice. How far out was your pin? Mine fell out when I touched it. Just did it a few weeks ago. Took me about 2 hours (fairly skilled mechanic with air tools).

Good job!

my pin actually looked like it hadnt moved at all. i'm sure we could have done it alot faster but we were messin around quite abit too...... gotta have some beer!! we also let the RTV sit for an hour like the tube says, then put it back together. we used my air ratchet to take most off the stuff off, worked pretty slick. and i ran it today and so far so good... NO LEAKS!!! good thing you didnt wait any longer to do yours huh?!? talk about good timing

No joke man. I think a few more weeks would have been the end for mine.

I actually didn't believe all the hype about the KDP's until I pulled the cover and looked at mine. I was really just doing it for the oil leaks...which were getting pretty bad.

yeah i was having to add about a quart and a half every 3,000-4,000 miles. made my driveway look crappy. 2 hours is pretty dang fast!! i'm thinking the fastest we could have done it was like 4 hours or so.

Book time is actually only 1.6 hours for the front cover, you get to add .2 hours for the front seal, and I would say .1 for the kdp itself.

So for anyone who has done it before, 1.9 hours would be the fair pay. I think having the right tools and having done the job before, I could safely do them in 1.5 now. What did you use to remove the crank balancer? Thats what almost killed me. I couldn't get an impact in there, and I couldn't hold the crank and break the bolts loose at the same time. After about 15 minutes I finally got someone to help me by holding the flywheel.

I know you were not rushing, but taking it easy.....so your time doesn't
matter. Only the fact that its done matter now.

i used a pry bar in the notch of the balancer and the other end on the frame to keep it from turning. worked out pretty good but it took us a little bit to think of that one.
