i need 4wd, and some cummins schooling
Ok, so I just bought another 1st gen. Its in great shape, no rust, very minor dings, excelent interior but no 4 wheel drive. So, i have no front axle, wait, its a 1993 d250. Cummins of course. So, what do i need to make it 4wd. Dana 60 front axle, np203 transfer case, front drive shaft, front leaf springs, and tie rods and possibly a larger diameter front sway bar? Please, let me know what i'm leaving out, because while i may like working on my own vehicle, i still consider myself a novice. Does the transfer case have a special bracket? Do i need a new main drive shaft? A shorter one maybe? Is the automatic transmission the same on the 4wd model as the 2wd model? Are there factory holes for leaf spring brakets already on the truck, or are the leaf spring brackets welded on? Is my frame sufficient for 4wd? Or do the 2wd trucks have a weaker frame? Please, i know for some of you guys the first gen cummins are like your life, you guys are the ones i need to write back to me. Thanks. Jason

Jason, this would probably be better asked on the first gen board.
