i was busy this week!

i pulled the tranny out this week and rebuilt it and bought a georend triple disc and his valve body rebuild kit. Let me tell you about this guy, Dave Georend is one of the nicest guys out there. i told him i needed to have my tranny rebuilt by the end of the week and he bent over backwards and did flips to get me all rebuilt on time. he sent parts out to me with out even asking me how i was going to pay for them, he called shops that he supplies to send me parts and then spent 3.5 hours with me on saturday morning on the phone walking me through his valve body kit from start to finish. seriously if anyone is thinking about opening up there tranny and replacing some parts it was a piece of cake. i removed the tranny all by myself some how, mostly from gravity. the valve body was easy with Dave holding my hand through it, i think i could easily do it again on my own. Fortunately my tranny was actually in pretty good condition even though it worked like crap. The hardest part is just getting under the truck and removing all the crap and getting to all the bolts and removing the tranny, od,transfer case and tc. without killing yourself. it would have helped if i had another person helping me. i removed the transfer case first, it helped out with the weight. i also custom ground my own #100 plate, put on a K&N filter, and a 4k gsk kit while i was at it. power transfer is immediate and the turbo sounds sweet and the power is pretty good but i'm gonna move the plate a little more forward. For less than 2k i have a tranny in there that would have cost me at least double if i paid someone else to do it and i feel pretty good about doing it myself. i remember when i said i was going to rebuild my tranny myself and some of you said i need a whole bunch of special tools to do it and i should leave this kind of stuff to the professionals. yeah a screwdrive and a very simple socket set. i had the entire tranny apart in 20 minutes. I would highly recommend Dave Georend, great guy and my tranny works great now.

Did you actually put in new clutches, and seals, or just redo the VB, and install the TC. How long did it take you total to pull the tranny, redo it, and reinstall it? I am planning on a new TC, and hopefully new clutches and seals at the same time very soon. I absolutley cannot wait to get it done either. TC has slipped for 2 years now, and man im redy to have it where it will hold the power. I would like to know more about installing clutches and seals, as i would like to do that myself too if possible.
