Question How to idle up???

How can I idle my truck up? I took the linkage off and I cant get the nuts to break loose and I dont want to break the aluminum. is there another way? If im idling in gear and tap the throttle quickly it tries to stall when the rpms drop back down.

Don't mess with the linkage!!
Nuts(plural?) What are you tugging on?
The only true idle stop is on the bottom-rear of the IP and it only requires a 10mm open end wrench. Lay on your back underneath the left side of the engine, and reach up to turn the idle stop bolt that the IP throttle arm rests on. It SHOULDN'T BE OVERLY TIGHT!
There's a jam nut that may need loosening but it SHOULDN'T be aluminum-breaking tight...
Make just a SMALL adjustment inward(clockwise). Over the years, the end of the idle bolt probably has a small spot worn in the end from contact with the throttle arm, and you may get more idle than you expect with just a small turn of the screw.
I had more trouble getting the jam nut snugged back up w/o turning the screw after I brought the idle up to the desired amount.

After you see(and feel) where the screw is from the bottom, you can do it from the top but it will be completely by feel.

Maybe someone will post that excellent diagram I've seen here of the P7100 pump.

K.
