Fuel pump & Solenoid Spring (and glove)
Fuel pump & Solenoid Spring (and glove)
my truck wont start at all! it wont turn over and its been doing it for a long time! the only way i can start it is if i spray WD40 down my air filter.. i turned up my fuel plate all the way foward and i took off that little rubber glove that goes over the spring, its leaking a lot of diesel from my fuel pump AND my solenoid, can anyone help on what the problem is!?! thank you! please get back to me ASAP on what i need to do..
First off welcome second fill in your signiture so we have all your truck info and mods .
now if you have fuel leaking there is a good chance you have air getting in too ,that will make for hard starts. if your lift pump is leaking its time for a new one as for fuel leaking out the solenoid well i think you are looking at some thing else ...maybe fuel heater? anyways fix all the leaks (i sometimes will add 5psi to the tank) then start looking and fixing all the leaks ,dont add to much air to the tank or it will pop.

First, what year are we dealing with? From you post I am assuming 94-98.5 12 valve. Now, by leaking diesel from your fuel pump, I am assuming the lift pump on the side of the block? If so, then you probably have lost prime on the engine due to the leak. A quick check is to use the primer button ( either the black rubber button at the top of the LP, or if the rubber is rotted, a white circular rid ) and pump the heck out of it until you hear a sound similar to what you would hear if you forced air through your front teeth. Next, make sure that the fuel lever is being pulled up when you first bump the starter, and see if she starts. If she does, then you can wait for a couple of hours and see if it will re-start. If it doesn't, then you know you are losing prime and time to either fix or replace your LP. ( an o-ring can be replaced, but depending on mileage, might be better to simply replace LP.
