Dana 70 Shuddering

Ok, my last rear end was a 3:55 Dana 70 Limited Slip, and I busted the pinion and ring gear on it. So I bought a used one with about 90k miles on it. It works just fine, and doesent really have much play in the pinion and ring gear's mesh, but when I turn, it shudders pretty bad, and if I have a load with alot of weight on the rear end, it really makes some racket. I added some additive to the rear end, and it did help, but it didnt stop it for sure. I have another bottle also, I just havent added it yet. This is pretty aggrovating, cause it seriously sounds like it is going to fly apart turning with a load behind you. It only does it when you turn slow. Just wondering if y'all have any idea's? Do these rear ends shudder like that if the clutches are worn out in them? I have a 3:55 LS Dana 80 that will be going in sometime, but it needs a pinion bearing, and I havent felt like messing with it yet.

Just a thought here, but I would start slowly adding the additive until your grabbing stops. It sounds like your clutches are grabbing as you go around the corner. Empty, the wheel can spin, loaded it cannot so you feel it more. Your old unit did not do that for a few reasons, your clutches were worn or they were arranged in a mild set up. You can change the "grabbiness" of the clutches by arranging them one way or another. Your new unit may have a more aggresive set up. Add the additive, a D70 should take more than one bottle.

You sure its a stock LSD and not an aftermarket setup? Sounds like it's a lot tighter than a factory limited slip.

It should be the same as my old one was. My old one was tight. It would always spin both tires, but it never chattered. Gonna add the rest of the additive sometime, and see if it makes a difference I guess.

I'm up to 3 bottles in my 99, and if I give it moderate fuel in a corner the inside tire starts chirping. If you take is easy around the corner it's quiet. I think I'm gonna need another bottle of FM.
My 96 is a little looser, with 219K on that D70. It only took 1 bottle to quiet down, from chirping the inside tire. It has never chattered.
