I am looking for a 12v for my 97 F350 conversion. I am finding plenty of 5.9's out there for sale...Which one to buy??? Some are out of Gen I trucks, some are from Gen II's, Fords, Frieghtliners, school busses, UPS trucks, FedEX trucks, and so on....! I want to bomb this thing and it is going in my Ford so one that came from a Gen II truck with all the accessories I guess would be best. But other than the Bosch pumps from Gen I to Gen II what engine internals would be different? Blocks, cams, valves, pistons, rods, crank???

I guess I'm asking if I where to buy a Gen I 12v...what all needs to be done to put on a P7100 stupid pump? I'm currious if I'm planning on bombing this engine from the inside out(pistons, cam, studed, o-ringed, the works) does the year I look for really matter?

Look for a gen II 12v. They list all the differences here: www.dodgeram.org. Go to the diesel section, then under engine evolution by year. Have you checked out www.fordcummins.com?

 

I appreciate the info and the links. I have heard of FordCummins...I also have been checking out Autoworld and De-Stroked. Some pretty cool custom stuff out there.
