Converter Letting Go?
Converter Letting Go?
Ok, converter is not holding what the engine is putting out. The Lockup is very slow and I have to be easy in the throttle to get it to do so. Once it is locked up, if I am going up a hill or need to pass someone, it lets go and feels like a downshift. The tranny shifts just fine otherwise. Would it be safe to just replace the converter or would the fact that it is slipping just tear up the new converter as well if the tranny itself failed? Dont have the cash for a whole new tranny. Thanks.
The same thing happend to me so i went DTT converter and VB upgade and it worked really well till i did some other dumb stuff and killed it wich i honestly think was operator eror. IF you dont have the cash and you are sure your clutches arnt slipping than you should be fine with a TC but just so you know a stronger converter transfers more power throught the tranny so your clutches see more stress thats were the vb comes in you gotto up your line pressure to put more holding power to those cluches hope this helps im sure some others will give you some good info to
good luck
