Can I put dually wheels on a SRW?

Hi all,

I just got a '96 2500 with a dana 80 in it. I want to put a utility bed on it, which is designed for a dually. Can I simply put dual rear wheels on the SRW axle? It looks like they would just bolt on.

Go there and look, they make conversion kits. As far as just bolting them up, they wont. The drums are different on a single wheel compared to a dual wheel. I have the same truck you do, and have been looking into doing the same as you want, and know the stock 16 inch dual rim will not slide on far enough, as to why you need the spacers.

Ok, I also have a set of dually hubs and dually drums. Will that do it, or is there yet more retardation?

You will have to relocate the drum brake backing plate mounting flanges that are welded on the on the SRW D80 housing if you want to use the dually D80 brakes and hubs since the dually brakes and bearing hubs have much more offset to the inside to be able to accomodate the inner wheel.

Arrowcraft and others use wheel spacers to allow the inner wheel to clear the existing SRW brakes.

Ok, use the arrowcraft stuff instead. I actually have a whole dually dana 80 housing sitting around, minus the brakes. Problem is, the limited slip unit is shot in it and it has 4.10's (the truck I want to convert is a 4x4 with 3.54's).
