Are the camshafts the same in a 1st gen and 2nd gen 12v truck?

 

Also, anyone running an aftermarket cam in a 2nd gen 12v? What are your thoughts, comments, input, etc...

I have a hamilton street cam. If you install this on a stock motor chances are you will soon pop your head gasket. =)
It knocks a couple hundred degrees off the EGT up top and helps spool the turbo a tiny bit faster.
Its usually in the top of the rev range where these cams show their stuff.

 

Why/ how will you pop the head gasket on a stock truck? Wouldnt a hopepd up engine make more pressure, and be more subject to blowing the gasket?

 

I think that I read on a forum that they are different. I can try to find the info if you like. Different timing events.
