Boost Pressures?

Im new at this and wondering, how much boost should a holset H35XW put out when going down the highway with my 1998 12 valve. Mine at 70 mph is pulling 12lbs of boost at 2200 rpms is that normal or too much? and with my foot in it she will pull 21 or 22 lbs max.

On flat land empty, steady speed normal boost should be 7 psi or lower.
If you still have a cat it may be clogged.

HX35W actually.

If you have 4.10 gears, the 12# boost at that speed is normal. That is what I got stock, even with 5" exhaust and no muff. Max boost sounds good. Healthy truck.

These engines are stout. The headgasket will hold 40#+, depending on its condition. Had mine up to 45psi. No problems. IIRC, Joe Donnelly on the TDR was making 800hp on a stock shortblock.
