Back up switch

What's the easiest way to get to and replace the back up switch on a 5 speed manual transmission. I pulled the connection off and jumpered the pins and the lights cam on so I know the switch is bad but dang, how do you get to it to remove and replace?

not 100% sure but it may make it easier to remove the shifter boot and go from the top....

Is the switch a dealer only item or is there a better source?

I'm pretty sure that the switch just screws out of there where you unplugged it from. Thats how it was on my '02. But if I remember right, it was a lot easier to do with the tranny out, but can be done with it in the truck.
